Hi Maryam

I saw your very impressive blog and wanted to contact you to see if you would be able to help us.

I work for a programme called "World Have Your Say" on the BBC World Service and we are covering the Iranian petrol rationing story later today.

We need to get in touch with Iranians who speak English who have been affected by these problems.

I'd be interested to know whether you have any friends over there
and whether we could call them and get their experiences on the radio.

If you could send me your number I can call you immediately.

Many thanks

This experience has been a real lesson for those of us in the United States. The propaganda we always hear makes us think that Iran is an authoritarian, theocratic state where no dissent whatsoever is allowed or expressed. While I do understand the theocratic and anti-democratic nature of the Iranian regime, it is refreshing to see that the people of Iran are not so cowed by the imams and ayatollahs that they won't express the outrage they feel.

Would that this event kick off a popular revolution in Iran against the theocratic establishment and the awful Ahmadinejad. I'd love to see a prosperous, democratic, secular Iran. I'd love to see the Persian people reclaim their pre-Islamic history and heritage. How wonderful it would be to see a democratic Iran lead the region away from the death and destruction wrought by Islamism!!
